IAS Topper’s Success Tips 2017– Being one of the most prestigious careers in India, to become an IAS officer is the desire of billions of students nowadays. With the growing competition each year, one needs to be highly determined and dedicated to qualifing the examination. There are so many factors that decide your success and failure, in which your approach towards the preparation plays the lead role. These are some Topper’s tips to help you perform your best in the examination.
Utilize your time well and Be selective
As I mentioned earlier, your approach matters so how you distribute your time to study each section is very important. Always distribute your time wisely so that you can focus on each section equally and try to cover all the topics mentioned in the syllabus. Focus on topics that have more weightage in the examination than those that are of less importance. And be selective, pick previous year papers and analyze the important sections so that you know which section needs more attention and time. Read Newspapers or a General Knowledge book while traveling as it will also help you to utilize your time well.
Make a Routine and stick to it
Make a timetable, it may remind you of your school days, but timetables are the best way to prepare for any examination. While making timetables, it is very important to plan it well. Give more time to topics you are weak at. Choose a time which suits you the best and abide by it. Remember that this is your chance and you have to put your best foot forward in order to qualify the examination. So stay focused and follow your study plan wisely.
Personal notes for Revision
Note making is always an effective and important way of preparing. Maintain a separate notebook and develop a habit of noting down all the important points you come across while studying. Use heading, subheadings, bullet points while making notes. Also remember to keep revising them. Write down formulas, shortcut methods, tricks, important terms or anything you feel is important for last minute revision. Try to cover all topics before one or two weeks of the examination, and use the last two weeks in recollecting everything you have studied.
Practice Previous year question papers
Start with the basics, collect previous year papers to observe the pattern and analyze the level of questions. Once you become familiar with the pattern of examination, start your preparation. Solve sample papers, take online tests, Join any IAS aspirant group, share knowledge and important points with each other. It will build your confidence and it will also help you in your preparation process. Try to solve question papers within examination time duration.
Prepare General Knowledge on a Regular basis
As the subject is vast, it is very important to prepare this section on a regular basis. Follow newspapers, online news, stay updated to all the current happenings and important issues going on around the world. History, geography, sports, Science, economy there is so much to read and to learn to score well in the exam. To memorize important issues and happening, you can take help of notes, use underlining, highlight the important points. This will help you at the time of revision too. So prepare well, follow all these points and read newspaper daily.
