UPSC CDS Eligibility Criteria 2017– Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will release the official notification of UPSC Combined Defence Services Examination (I) 2017 in the month of November 2017. Shortlisted candidates will be able to get admission in Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officer’s Training Academy. Only eligible candidates can apply for the examination, hence it is mandatory for all the applicants to read the eligibility norms, precisely, before filling the CDS-1 Application Form 2017. UPSC CDS Eligibility Criteria 2017 is categorized in three different areas including Age Requirement, Educational Qualification and Nationality.
Aspirants must possess any of the following nationalities
(a) Indian Citizenship, or
(b) A subject of Nepal, or
(c) A subject of Bhutan, or
(d) A Tibetan refugee who migrated to India before 1 January 1962 for residing permanently in India, or
(e) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Srilanka or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam for residing permanently in India.
Candidate applying under categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) must possess a certificate of eligibility, issued by the Government of India.
(i) For IMA: Unmarried male candidates born between 02 January 1993 to 01 January 1998
(ii) For Indian Naval Academy: Unmarried male candidates born between 02 January 1994 to 01 January 1999
(iii) For Air Force Academy: Unmarried male candidates age between 20-24 years as on 01 January 2017 (born between 02 January 1994 to 01 January 1999).
(iv) For Officers’ Training Academy (SSC Course for Men): Male candidates (married or unmarried) born between 02 January 1993 to 01 January 1999.
(v) For Officers Training Academy (SSC Women Non-Technical Course): Unmarried Women, issueless widows, and issueless divorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried can also apply and should have born earlier than 02 January 1993 and not after than 01 January 1999.
Note: Male divorcee/widower candidates should not be treated as unmarried, hence they are not eligible for admission in IMA/INA/AFA courses.
(i) For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy- Graduate Degree from a recognized University/ Institute or equivalent.
(ii) For Indian Naval Academy: Graduate Degree in Engineering from a recognized University/ Institution.
(iii) For Air Force Academy: Graduate Degree or Bachelor of Engineering from a recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level)
Note: Candidates appearing in the final year of Degree course are also eligible to apply.
Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Combined Defence Services Examination (I).
